Gavin

Gavin is the main protagonist of Season 5 of The Wall serial arc: "The Back Yard". He is a wandering cowboy who is known for gambling and being accompanied by a pet Hedgehog. He is voiced by Clancy Brown and made his first appearance in "Live Die Repeat Device".

In the episode Live Die Repeat Device, he is shown to be a cowboy who finds himself in Gutterville looking for a way to earn Yardbucks to pay off his gambling debts. He overhears a conversation between Oscar and another man in Oscar's saloon, and offers to help Oscar for 10,000 Yardbucks. He is seen as distrustful by Oscar and is denied the offer. He tries again and again to prove himself to Oscar until he admits that he only needs the money to pay off his debts.

Live Die Repeat Device[]

Gavin is first shown as a cowboy-like character who finds himself wandering from town to town looking for a way to pay off his gambling debts from Basketballburgh. He along with his pet hedgehog Hedgie find themselves in Gutterville. He is recognised by a fan from his hedgehog whom he later tells to be quiet to avoid drawing attention to him. Afterwards, the fan offers Gavin his barn for posting Hedgie. He then goes into Oscar's saloon and overhears a conversation between Oscar and a man. When he hears Oscar's offer of 10,000 yardbucks, he volunteers to help transport food to an undisclosed location. He is however, rejected by Oscar as he is seen by Oscar to be distrustful. He tries to prove to Oscar that he can be trusted by cleaning his saloon and throwing out a drunk who attempts to attack Oscar. Afterwards, McManus (Gavin's creditor) and his gang find Gavin in Gutterville and beat up Gavin as a reminder to pay off his debts. After seeing Gavin's real reason for wanting his offer, Oscar finally offers Gavin the job to transport supplies to another location in exchange for 10,000 Yardbucks. Sofia, the niece of Oscar joins Gavin on his journey when Oscar is killed by Little Richard, whom Gavin suspects is looking for him.

Appearance[]

Gavin is a grey-haired middle-aged man with pale skin. Throughout all the flashbacks he has worn the same ensemble: A cowboy hat, a grey t-shirt with a red overcoat, black jeans, a teal bandana around his neck and grey boots.

Personality[]

Gavin is a seasoned cowboy with a gambling addiction. He is a cynical and pessimistic person, although with a heart of gold which is shown when he attempts to rescue Sofia after learning that she was taken by Little Richard and was being held in Basketballburgh. He struggles with self-control as shown by his gambling debts and when he almost drags himself into gambling again when seeing a roulette wheel while in Basketballburgh with Montez. After saving Sofia with Montez and Cherie, he thanks her for reminding him how it "feels like to care about people".
